Review of 2009 Graduate Fast Track
The 2009 Fast Track summer school proved to be a great success. With 7 companies participating in the programme plus a spectacular gala dinner, it’s hardly surprising.
Graduates attending came from 17 different universities and had studied subjects from English to Economics though the majority this year were business / marketing students.
Everyone was given the opportunity to work on a case study brief. Some were set the task of finding an innovative way for The Sun newspaper to stand out from the rest during the noise of the first World Cup 2010 qualifier at home, which was briefed by their agency EHS Brann. Others worked on a brief set by TEQUILA\ London for their client The Carbon Trust, looking at ways to drive consumers' understanding and desire for the Carbon Label. All 25 Fast Track students had the opportunity to present their ideas face to face to the programme’s participating companies at the end of the week.
The agency visit was hosted by Rapp and agency representatives from data, media, creative, client services and planning gave inspiring and informative talks to the students.
The highlight of the week was unanimously agreed to be the gala dinner at The Landmark Hotel in London's Marylebone. The Fast Track students dined with 150 senior executives across the profession, and made the most of the opportunity by seeking advice on their career paths and maybe even gaining a job introduction! Students who had reached the final of the IDM Student Direct Marketing Competition also attended to receive their awards.
"It has been a very enjoyable week. An experience that one would never get in their normal day to day life. The influential people you meet, the contacts you are able to make and the gala evening, all make for excellent opportunities to get into the industry. The staff at IDM have all been very friendly, extremely helpful, courteous and polite. A fantastic week!"
