Account Manager/Senior Account Manager


An Account Manager acts as a central coordinator and must ensure the smooth operation of all accounts under their control, implementing all necessary tasks and ensuring the efficient organisation of all projects.

Depending on the size and structure of the agency, Account Managers might report to an Account Director, Account Supervisor or Senior Account Manager. Their responsibilities include:

• Acting as first point of contact for clients
• Building excellent rapport (and instilling confidence) between clients/agency/suppliers/other internal departments (this will often include managing a client's expectations)
• Top notch communication and diplomacy skills, both written and spoken
• Good clear presentation skills (both internal and external presentations will be required)
• Expertly and smoothly managing all aspects of project implementation from conception to completion - from taking a client's brief, through developing and presenting an internal campaign/project brief; liaison with all relevant departments - creative, production, data management, project management, and, ultimately, campaign analysis
• Anticipating and developing solutions to any problems which may arise on a live project
• Constant liaison with all necessary departments to ensure the smooth running of the account and to ensure that all deadlines are met and budgets adhered to
• Controlling budgets and billing clients for work carried out
• Knowledge of marketing services technology
• Fully understand direct marketing techniques and corresponding legal requirements
• Understanding of complementary marketing disciplines, e.g. advertising, PR, sponsorship
• Understanding of supporting services, e.g. telemarketing, printing, fulfilment...
• Excellent market knowledge in order to keep abreast of market trends and competitor activity
• Developing skills of others through the management of one or more Account Executives
• Make sure good clear client records are kept for internal use, and regular status reports are issued for client use
• Sometimes involved in new business acquisition
Ideas generation in conjunction with other relevant agency personnel (through, e.g. brainstorming).
