The IDM Top Student Summer School
Marketing is all about results. It’s a creative and dynamic discipline – and direct and digital marketing are the fastest growing sectors. Now we’re looking to find the people who will shape the future of our business.
Get on the fast track
The IDM's annual summer school introduces new graduates to the direct, data and digital marketing profession. It provides the opportunity to meet face to face with key industry figures, to learn from them and find out how to enter the profession. And what's more, it's FREE to attend.
The next summer school will take place from 27th June to 1st July 2011 and provides a valuable grounding in the business. The programme will demonstrate what the profession is like, the types of companies you could work for and what they do. You’ll meet senior executives from marketing agencies, client companies and service providers. And you’ll work on a case study so you can try it out for yourself. By the end of the week, you should have a clear idea of which areas interest you most, and which type of role suits you best.
But it’s not just all work and no play. The evenings will be spent socialising with other graduates as well as meeting the speakers and sponsors of the event.
Throughout the week, you'll have numerous opportunities to meet influential contacts for recruitment purposes, and many students will be fortunate in securing a job directly through the programme. In the past, students have gone on to work at companies such as EHS 4D Group, Rapp, O2 and Proximity. In addition, the knowledge and experience gained has proved to put candidates ahead of the game at interviews.
A highlight of the week is undoubtedly the evening drinks reception, held this year at the prestigious Goring Hotel in London, just opposite Buckingham Palace. Here, 60 of the profession's top marketeers, including senior management from OgilvyOne, Vodafone, Barclays and TEQUILA\ and many more, spent the evening chatting with the students, offering words of wisdom and even providing contact details for follow-up - a true networking event.
Applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students of all disciplines, with a graduation date of 2010 or 2011, are welcome. You will need to pass an assessment process to gain a place, and a maximum of 30 places are offered.
To apply, complete the application form.
The closing date for applications is 18 February 2011.
